Who's Your New Friend?
Topic: 3D paperwork

Along with the many Santas in my purchase of 3D sheets there were several of snowmen. I like this little fellow with the trio of curious geese. I added a back border of green salvaged off an old card and bordered it with strips of checked ribbon to match the snowman's neck scarf.

the background paper is an overall pattern of clusters of pinecones. I enhanced them with a tiny bit of gold glitter and mounted it all on green folded cardstock.

Shiny White
Topic: 3D paperwork

Without the seasonal greeting this 3D image could suit any occasion. I used dusty blue to frame it out and to carry the greeting of a clear sticker.

The background paper I chose has little poinsetti 'snowflakes' in circles. The cardstock is really butter yellow. I have no idea why it appears to be tan!

How About a Little Help?
Topic: 3D paperwork

This Santa seems to need a little help delivering his bag, but it is really fair to sit on it while the kids try to drag it along? I combined some of the papers I've used recently on other cards and gave it a purple folded card base.

I rounded the corners to feature the curve of the oval image and popped it up on foam dots. The text is a clear sticker.

Santa's Bag of Fun
Topic: 3D paperwork

For the non-foil 3D sheets I bought two of each so it seems reasonable to show both together. For the card on the left I selected some dotted vintage-look paper faces a folded green card base. I added a vinyl text sticker to the upper left and added three different colors of Stickles to selected dots. The Santa is mounted on foam dots.

Santa number two is also mounted on foam dots over a green panel on some of the antique ornaments paper. For this Santa I added a small clear sticker to the beard for the greeting.

Santa Bling
Topic: 3D paperwork

This Santa looks a little feeble! He is stooped and has to use a cane and his bag looks like a 'man purse'. I decided to give him some bling to try to recover his image. I selected an antique-look background with strings of ornaments and added a variety of colors of rhinestones to them.

A border of brown frames the illustration, popped up on foam dors, and teal cardstock is folded for the base.

Night Santa
Topic: Scrap Recovery

Oh, here's another of the illustrations from the Engelbreit book I scrapped out. I just gave it a narrow brown border and a larger blue panel to pull out the blue from the sky. To this I added a clear sticker greeting. These were offset on a diamond patterned paper to which I added a matching sheer ribbon.

I folded more of the blue cardstock for the base of the card.

Santa and the Snow
Topic: 3D paperwork

A lot of the foil 3D sheets I got (ordered online) turned out to be of Santa and of a vintage look. I tried to pair them with other vintage look elements to preserve that feel. In this case, the paper with reindeer all over seemed to go well with the coloring and the subject.

A brown border for the illustration and popping it up on foam dots makes it the feature and a punched snowflake presents a little enhancement and repeats another color. The folded mossy cardstock matches some of the reindeer bringing it all together.

Since the 3D picutre has a greeting etched in the lower left corner, I did not add another to the card.

Tree Trimmings
Topic: 3D paperwork

The central element of this card is a foil 3D from the punch-out sheets I bought. I chose a blue folded card base to match the blue ornament and pulled out four colors from the art with Christmas bulb brads. These go through only the distressed-look cream layer.

The greeting at the bottom is a small clear sticker.

I Got the Blues
Topic: 3D paperwork

Yes, we're still looking at Christmas cards because I haven't finished showing them yet!

These beautiful candles are from some new foil 3D papers I got. They are more of those that punch out rather than being meticulously cut out.

The gold-on-gold text paper realy suited this and no other decoration was needed.

Christmas Quilt
Topic: Teabag Folding

For a friend who teaches quilting and loves cats, I created this card using 6 patterned papers and a teabag folding technique. Each of the blocks has a little punch of a plaid cat in the center.

The quilt got a coordinating sashing around the outside and is mounted with pop-dots on a text-printed cardstock with corners rounded.

I used rub-on 'stitches' on random places on the quilt and completely around the sashing. The date at the bottom is also rub-ons and the greeting is a premade tag.

Jolly Santa
Topic: Scrap Recovery

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Here I used the same background as yesterday but in a less imaginative way. But the Santa is so decorative I didn't want to distract from him.

He is scavenged from the pages of the stamp catalog and colored with Copic markers. The furry parts got some Stickles that are shine but not glitter. Not sure I like these

Santa is popped up on foam dots and the greeting is stamped.

Just in Time
Topic: Collage

When I decided to put this Santa on the tree-covered background it just looked too plain. But by cutting along the top of one row It made a nice foreground to the paper with the little town. I gave Santa a little strip of road to walk on and loved how it came together.

The circle stamp at the lower left reads SPECIAL DELIVERY and I added a star to the center. I added stars to the tops of the trees in the forest as well as to many of the trees in town.

Santa is from the stamp catalog, colored with Copics. I put a little shadow under him with watercolor marker and added a clear sticker for the text.

All-Plaid Santa
Topic: Scrap Recovery

This illustration is from a book of cross-stitch patterns. Since the Santa had plaid clothing I combined two plaids for backgrounds. These are layered over blue borders in a simple layout.

I did give the staff a gold star centered in the one already printed there.

Holly Quilt
Topic: Scrap Recovery

This is another cutout from an old quilting magazine. I trimmed right around its scalloped edges and placed it on a complimentary background from my 6 x 6 Christmas print pad. The text tag is a commercial one that comes with foam dot mounting. It also already had red glitter on the berries.

Though they do not show up in all their glory, I added three rhinestone 'berries' to each of the leaf clusters on the quilt. A green folded card base matches the holly leaves.

Cheer, Cheer, the Gingerbread's Here
Topic: Scrap Recovery

These gingerbread people are cut from the catalog I bought and I colored them with Copic markers. I chose a homey plaid for the background and added a few strips of table scraps to 'ground' them.

I popped the seated figure on foam dots and added a clear sticker for the text.

Hark!
Topic: Stamping

Look closely at the text on this illustration!

I set Harold up to carol for the whole town with this cute background paper. I added a thin border of woodgrain to the top edge of it and then stamped snowflakes all over the pink folded card base. Each of the snowflakes got a rhinestone center for a little sparkle and Harold got some Stickles on his halo and his star.

Harold is bordered in black and popped up on foam dots.

Contrast
Topic: Stamping

Though I did use another bargain book picture I treated it in an entirely different way.

I wanted to set up a contrast between a 'natural' winter tree as it might be decorated in the forest and the type found in livingrooms across the world. I stamped the green printed cardstock with the black tree and added stamped borders at the top and bottom.

The colored picture is mounted with a thin brown border and popped up on foam dots. Then each of the ornaments is enhanced with gold Stickles.

Fine Seasoning
Topic: Scrap Recovery

I bet you know where this illustration came from...

You probably recognize the backgrounds as some table scraps from recent projects, too. Oh... and the stamp looks familiar, you say? Yeah, nothing original about this at all. I did use a new piece of folded cardstock for the base, though.

Oh, yeah, I added Stickles. Another 'no surprise there', huh? They are the little gold dots in the center of each of the red flowers.

Topic: Scrap Recovery

Back to the bargain book...

I bordered the illustration with black and made a merry mix of scrap papers vor the background. LOVE those dots, so I amped it up by applying various Stickles to the blue ones, the gold ones and the white ones.

The text banner is a clear sticker.

Merry Chris-Mouse
Topic: Stamping

I got this adorable mouse image in a stamped image swap and colored it with Copic markers. Love the blending! I cut him out with a craft knife so I could mount him with foam tape over this pine background. The background has wonderful glittering on the berries and the branch tips.

I added some 'ornament' paper to the background along with some woodgrain paper borders and another piece as a stamped banner. I rounded the corners of the text block and popped it up on foam dots.
