Easter Dove
Topic: Stickers

Today's card features another collage sticker which I mounted on lavender cardstock for a frame. This was so large as a result that most of the cream colored card base is covered. This allowed for only two accents: a dove charm threaded with cream colored ribbon and a metal/epoxy word charm that says 'Happy Easter'.

This was so simple I wonder why I waited so long to use these stickers?

Mother's Day Ribbons
Topic: Stickers

The other sticker sheets of florals are collage-look with sketched blooms and plants. For this one I chose matching folded card base and a backing block for simple layering.

The text is stamped onto ribbon which was then trimmed with fancy ends and mounted between the layers.

Father's Sunflower
Topic: Stickers

This large sticker and it's border are from the same sheet as yesterday's card. I mounted the sticker on a green border to distinguish its brown frame from the chosen background. That background is shimmery brown paper which I ran thru a Cuttlebug folder for texture. The text is also a sticker mounted on green which I cut into a tag shape, hole punched, and threaded onto yellow ribbon.

Both the main image and the tag are raised up on foam dots while the ribbon is glued flush to the card. I used a cream-colored folded card base.

Tiger Lily for Father
Topic: Stickers

I've had a few sheets of floral stickers around for several years and have found that they are too large and flashy to use as accents on cards like Iusually do with stickers. So I decided to use them as a starting point and build cards around them.

This is from one of the sheets resembling watercolored flowers. I liked the simplicity of it and wanted to keep the other card elements simple to not detract from the image. I chose a mottled paper, a solid brown and a folded card base of a peachy orange.

The border on the left is a sticker from the same sheet and the text was stamped.

Mother Like No Other
Topic: Scrap Recovery

This image is from the stamp catalog (someday I'll run out of these, but not anytime soon). Het pattern was so busy I went with a dard background paper with a fine print - still matching the colors. I placed these over a teal folded card base.

The flowers each got a milky flower sticker and a rhinestone that was colored with Copic marker to match.

The illustration was slashed at the backet handle to thread in the red tag. I used the tape technique discussed yesterday to create the greeting. The part of the greeting that reads 'like no' is hand written with Sharpie marker.

Thinking of Mother
Topic: Scrap Recovery

Layers and more layers of scraps from the desktop: illustration from the stamp catalog, a scrap of printed paper, an embossed paper, and a folded card base.

I stamped the text at the top using a stamp that actually says "Mother's" as part of a set that lets you combine greetings. I cover the 's with transparent tape, ink the stamp, peel of the tape, then stamp with it.

For You Mother
Topic: Scrap Recovery

Assignment: Another Mother's Day card

This started with the tiny illustration from the stamp catalog, colored with watercolor markers. I mounted this to gold cardstock and popped up on foam over the blue and white stripe paper.

I stamped the text on a green tag and knotted a pink ribbon through the hole. This, too, is on foam dots. Pink folded cardstock is the base.

Mom's Plant
Topic: Stamping

Assignment: Make a Mother's Day card

After coloring this image I got in a swap I slit the image next to the stem and tied a knot in a ribbon threaded through. Then I slit around the pot and slid in the piece of pink polkadot paper. A bit of grey marker makes a shadow for the pot and a stamped tag addresses the gift to 'Mom'.

After rounding the top two corners I mounted it on the black and white checked paper and this over a pink folded card base.

Spring Flowers
Topic: Die Cuts

Assignment: Spring card

This beautiful paper was from a pad of diecut pages. I just trimmed it to fit the standard card size. The folded card base was selected to match the floral background (a lucky find, actually). I added a matching paper with fine stripes and then had another serendipity by running across the swirl diecut.

The text is a fabric sticker. I added sticker acrylic milky flowers to the centers of all the printed ones and then added pastel colored pearl stickers to the centers of these.

Love this card!

Hello Birdy
Topic: Stamping

This card actually combines three stamps. The vine is recovered from the stamp catalog, The bird was received in a swap, and I stamped the greeting myself on the background paper. I cut both the colored images (watercolor markers) with a craft knife, leaving white borders to tie them together.

I chose  the green leafy paper, the red end panels and the white folded card base to continue the colors from the images.

I used fine red wire to create the butterfly and attached it with a red flower brad.

Buckets o'Bunnies
Topic: Stamping

Start with a stamped row of cute bunnies that someone sends you in a swap. Color it up with markers, including lots of shading. Trim to size. Round the corners. Back with purple cardstock. glue strips of paper to the back using the same colors as the flower pots. trim ends of strips to resemble ribbon. Glue onto tone on tome white paper. Mount to folded card base. Stamp greeting.

Send to your special 'somebunny'.

Just Because
Topic: Stamping

I colored the image for this card twice - once with watercolor markers and once with Sharpies - to get the depth of color I wanted. Then I fussy-cut the image with it's frame and stamped the greeting inside.

The background paper is embossed with the Cuttlebug and I added a block of pastel plaid as well as stamping a text tag for the bottom. These are all layered directly to the green folded card base. The floral frame is raised on foam dots for dimension.

Blue Notes
Topic: Scrap Recovery

This photo was salvaged from some advertising. I cut in two and pulled colors from the photo for creating simple layers.

The tags used on these cards were from a packaged set where each tag was double layered and included the brad mounting. I stamped them with the greeting, using different orientation for each.

Hippity-Hoppity
Topic: Stamping

Yep, almost Easter! This bunny was colored with markers and then with colored pencils to get the depth I was looking for. I had the tag salvaged from an old project and needed to match the colors. I pulled the colors into the yellow border, the checked paper and the pink folded card base, all of which I rounded the corners on before mounting.

A pink ribbon is knotted over the layers and three yellow fabric flowers complete the framing.

Four For Spring
Topic: Scrap Recovery

Assignment: Make cards for Spring

I used an old calendar page photo and managed to get 4 great sections of pink tulips to use. To me, tulips are the signature flower of spring, so this was perfect. I started with the same folded card base for all the cards and pulled out a variety of coordinating materials for them including ribbon, tags, punched shapes, background papers, stamps and accent papers.

Cards 1 and 2 are landscape format and use parts of the foreground of the picture. The first card has a plaid scrapbook paper added, a stamped tag, and a row of punched out tulips. Card two uses the same stamped tag but features polkadot paper (love this) and a punched out butterfly with lifted wings.

Cards 3 and 4 are portrait view and make use of the distance view from the calendar page. Both of them got a stripe of torn mulberry paper but then the designed diverged.

Card 3 uses a light pink grosgrain ribon with a metal/epoxy tag tied on (it says 'spring'). A paper tag is tucked under them. A large punched buterfly with lifted wings flutters over the field. Card 4 uses this same butterfly but adds in two other sizes to follow it. They each have gold-trimmed bodies. The ribbon for this one is a very narrow dark pink.

So with the same basic supplies there are four different looks.

Paradise Found
Topic: Stamping

Oh, I did it again - I stamped my own image! This one is colored up with watercolor pencils and blended with an aquabrush. Rounded corners make it seem more serene and a yellow border brings in the light. The printed background paper is from the pad with die-cut borders.

The purple folded card base echoes the color of the hills in the illustration.

I used a cardstock sticker for the text.

You Are My Sunshine
Topic: Scrap Recovery

Althoug I like these birdhouses from the stamp catalog, I kind of wish I had used a lighter purple for the fence. With all the other colors it seems a little intense.

I used printed cardstocks as background and mounted on a yellow folded base card.

I found this cardstock sticker with definitions for 'sunshine' and bordered it with marker. Then I hand wrote the black text and added a dotted border to two sides of the pink striped panel.

Hearts in 3D
Topic: 3D paperwork

This 3D image is from the 'Fred She Said' blog. I turned the layers by 45 degrees to add even more depth. Layers of printed papers and plain cardstock echo the colors in the image.

I left a blank lower corner so a greeting could be added at the time the occasion for sending is selected.

Dots on the background echo the dots in the illustration and is repeated in the brad centers in the fabric flowers.

Oooooh, neat illustration - from the stamp catalog. Oooooh, neat background paper - from a pad with diecut edges. Oooooh, cute text - created from bubble letter stickers.

The rest is just a way to hold it all together.
