Pastel Dragonfly
Topic: New Work

Here's another do-up of the dandelion and dragonfly - this time in pastels. I started with pink cardstock and stitched using white and soft green. Then I backed it in green cardstock.

I used a single-word white rubon and added the rest of the text using white gel pen.

Accordion Folio
Topic: New Work

At mention of an accordion folio I was intrigued so I went online and looked at a few examples. I made up my own way of construction and produced this sample. For assembly it uses three 12 x 12 cardstock and three 12 x 12 patterned paper. Then I used a coordinating paper for decoration and cardstock for tags for the pockets.

The overall book is 6 x 6 inches.

I used  4 x 4 cardstock blocks on each page for mounting photos. More photos can be mounted on the 4 x 6 tags. The tags have ribbon pulls and the book ties closed with more ribbon.

Line Upon Line
Topic: New Work

This is another rendition of the stitching pattern by Lisa Burns. I used metallic gold thread on burgundy cardstock.

Though you can't tell from the photo, the first mat is also glittery metallic as are the greeting stickers. The green card is actually almost moss green.

When is someone going to invent a digital camera or scanner that renders TRUE COLOR?

Calendar illustrations make great cards! This bird was trimmed close and the colors echoed in three tones of cardstock. I added a band of satin ribbon and a bow.

Clear stickers were added as flowers and text.

On the Move
Topic: New Work

I used tones of cardstock that would draw out the sunset colors on this magazine illustration. I just loved the look of these horses running wild.

Gems of Alaska
Topic: New Work

I picked up these rough amethyst at a store in Skagway, Alaska. The owner picks them up when he is out hiking and tosses them in a box by the register. I tried to get ones that matched well in three sizes.

I used wire-wrapping to connect them and create this pendant. I had the silver chain on hand to finish it off.

This is pretty close to life-size.

Pansies in Thread
Topic: New Work

These stitched pansies are my own design. When I prick out designs I often layer and prick through 3-4 sheets at once. This allows me to stitch several cards without the tedium of all the prep work.

In this case I used scrapbook paper with a faux quilt pattern.

Good Luck Kanji
Topic: New Work

Stitching stickers are used for corners in this Kanji character card. I designed the character for stitching and worked it in blue metallic thread on green card. The tassel is created using more of the blue thread and all the elements are mounted on cream cardstock.

Stick & Stitch
Topic: New Work

These clear stitching stickers were placed  on a green background and stitched with green metallic thread. Green holographic stickers are used as accents in the medallion.

The stitched stickers are mounted on cream cardstock.

Borrowed Elements
Topic: New Work

I borrowed this illustration from my d-i-l's blog, turned it into a 3D card, backed it with plaid to mimic her blog background, and added a text sticker and silver peel-offs.

This made a perfect card for the family's house-warming.

Flower Tile Card
Topic: New Work

This 3D illustration with a tile background works up so beautifully. I gave it a background of scrapbook paper and a vellum text sticker to finish it off.

Summer Shows Her Face
Topic: New Work

Isn't this sunflower illustration just the definition of summer? I mounted it on dotted scrapbook paper and added a text sticker at the bottom.

In the Garden
Topic: New Work

One of my own patterns was used as a challenge on one of the lists I belong to. Several ladies stitches it up using their own interpretation. This is my work-up of the design, which I have done in at least 8 different ways.

Border Stitching
Topic: New Work

This stitching design from an online friend was open to interpretation due to the minimalist layout. I combined colors and used some left-over serendipity squares as a centerpiece.

Old Friend
Topic: New Work

I love stitching up this pattern that I adapted from an old string-art pattern from the 70's. I play with the colors every time I do it up and it reminds me of all the 'painted ladies' in the local area.

Gone Fishin'
Topic: New Work

I brought out the fishbones rubber stamp again to make this card. I found that I had this fish hook sticker so I hooked it up.

I used the same plaid background as last time.

Tulips are Sealed
Topic: New Work

I brought out the face again and this time added a tulip photograph instead of the sticker used before. The text is a sticker.

Blessings
Topic: New Work

Instead of using this little corner pocket as designed I used it as a corner element on this calendar illustration. The borders of the cranberry cardstock are cut unevenly and serve as a background for a greeting sticker. Green cardstock is used to bring our the background of the leaves.

Mailing a Garden
Topic: New Work

A watercolored stamping of pansies was the jumping-off point for this collage card. Postage stamps echo the theme introduced by the 'postcard' element. Vellum stickers of pansies frame out the bottom border and a plastic text sticker finish it off.
