Best Birthday
Topic: New Work

I started this with the grouping of tiles from a catalog and creased them at the seams. Then I layered with alternating scrapbook papers and finally a purple cardstock. I used a purple ink to distress the edges of the largest layer.

I used tiny peel-off greetings to create a border "happy birthday, all the best, and congratulations"

Peel-off fancy corners are the finishing touch.

Vagabond
Topic: New Work

I made a reverse photocopy of this caboose sketch and hand-colored it using watercolor markers and a water brush. I wanted just a hint of the original color to make it look weathered.

I used lines to frame it out and a scrapbook paper background, antique brads anchor the corners and two cardstock text stickers are the finishing touch.

At the Pool
Topic: New Work

Here is the last of my little mannaquins. For this one, I created a little swimsuit with a mesh cover. The flip-flops are created with cardstock and ribbon.

The tiles are drawn by hand and the lettering, as well.

See A Pattern?
Topic: New Work

For this mannaquin I left more of it showing! I just snipped out some squares of scrapbook paper and attached them. Then I drew in some 'pins' and attached half-pearls as pin tops.

The background is dress pattern tissue over scrapbook paper and the stand is drawn in free-hand. I used the pinking scissors on the tag to reinforce the theme.

Try It - You'll Like It
Topic: New Work

Mirkwood Designs website of templates has this adorable manaquin that can be dressed up. I printed it out in a variety of sizes so I could have some choices. I cut them out of scrapbook paper with a fabric print.

For this I drew up a shirtwaist, even though all you see of the manaquin is the neck. I drew on detailing with Sharpie marker and gave it a belt of ribbon with a cardstock buckle.

I free-handed a stand and covered a lightly patterned background paper with old dress pattern tissue. The tag is hand-lettered and I colored the string with watercolor marker.

Pony Girl
Topic: New Work

I got three impressions of this little girl in a swap a LONG time ago. I colored them up with watercolor markers and put in some grey marker shading. Then I cut them up and made it into one 3D image.

I've mentioned before that these little girls with no mouth look creepy to me so I always draw one in.

I made a 'tent' card format and used some subtle print scrapbook paper for background.

All of the text is stickers and I used the grey marker shading under those as well.

The Last Word
Topic: New Work

I found these scraps laying on the table when I went to clean up the studio so I put them together and covered them with laminate to protect from damage.

I found the cardstock text sticker that I 'needed' to use for this bookmark.

Change is Good
Topic: New Work
This card is made from the new free pattern at www.prickandstitch.ismycraft.com. However, I absolutely can't do anything according to the instructions, so I added some lines to the roses trying to make them more realistic and changed the internal structure of the leaves for the same reason. Then I doubled the lines on the stems.

After stitching on scrapbook paper I did something I've never done before - I colored in the design. I used two pinks and two greens of colored pencils so I could do some shading.
After all that, I thought the text sticker I found to match was a perfect fit!
Corrugated cardstock and a mulberry paper are used for backing and three rhinestones are the finishing touch.

Welcome to My Garden
Topic: New Work
I stayed with the paper part of paper embroidery to make this cross-stitch card.

I started with a paper with a small plaid and then chose the pattern. Then I counted out the holes needed and pricked out the grid work exactly the size I needed.
This is all stitched with Sulky threads.
I cut it with a Nestabililities scallop oval and aged the edges. Then I mounted it on cardstock with 4 strips of floral paper to look like the birdhouse is in a garden. Three fabric flowers have been stamped with script text and attached with heart brads.
Enjoy!

Tweeter, Tweeter, Thistle Eater
Topic: Photo

It is rare we can catch a glimpse of these little birds at the feeder because it hangs right in front of the garden window in the kitchen. As soon as they see our movement, away they fly.

I've been told many times what kind of bird they are, but can never remember for sure. I'm thinking it might be a goldfinch, but don't quote me on that.

This one stayed around while I went and got the camera, came back, ant took shots from several angles. Only two came out since I was shooting through the window and my camera is auto-(un)focus.

She took off when the brighter male flew in briefly. He wasn't there long enough to get even a blurry picture.

Heart Wreath
Topic: New Work

I made up this floral wreath and it was my hubby who pointed out that the center formed a heart. So I took advantage of that and centered a gold peel-off heart inside.  A few gold swirls and hearts at the corners add a little panache.

I cut slits to thread the ribbon through before tying in a bow. The backing cardstocks (red and purple) and scrapbook paper (yellow check) are colors pulled from the wreath.

Floral Watering Can
Topic: New Work

I put together this 3D watering can image and backed it with a little 'grassy' area of scrapbook paper and a piece of printed cardstock. I used a gold sticker greeting and added some rhinestones to enhance it.

I tied a bow on the handle with ribbon.

Milestone Moments
Topic: New Work

Are you sick of these little dresses? Maybe I'll go work on something else for a while - after this one more!

The background paper on the left is one that I have been hoarding for a long time. It is SO beautiful, I just couldn't bring myself to cut into it. At last I've done it and I do like the result.

Bits and pieces pulled together to complement one another - so there you go.

Thinking of Beach Chairs
Topic: New Work

This picture was peeled off my picture-a-day calendar. I stamped up the greeting for a different card and then didn't use it. The colors worked well for this one, though.

Friendship Year to Year
Topic: New Work

Just a new mix of elements but this time I added rhinestone brads with little bits of ribbon tied onto them.

I really like this simple layout.

Lives with Joy
Topic: New Work

The text strips have been cut from scrapbook paper and I dropped in the 'Joy' sticker to interrupt their thought line with my own. The ribbon on  the dress is selected to match the joy sticker.

It was two simple-looking so I added rhinestone flowers all over the dress with foam dots.

Butterfly Block
Topic: New Work

This block of butterflies is part of the Anna Griffin set I bought recently. I stamped on the diamond paper and then used a marker to enhance the lines on the background.

The butterflies are colored with watercolor marker, then the background lines and parts of the butterflies were enhanced with Stickles.

I enhanced the corners with black brads and then mounted to a shimmery cardstock with foam dots. Another shimmery cardstock makes up the folded card base.

Here you get a better look at the glitter.

Creating Yourself
Topic: New Work

This combination started with the impressed hearts on the background as I was looking for something with good contrast to the dress. Then I found the text sticker and finally, selected ribbon for the dress embellishments.

After the top was assembled I thought it still needed something so added the three gold heart brads before attaching to the folded card base.

Remembered Moments
Topic: New Work

I wish this showed up as vibrant as the real card!

I used two VERY oversized gold peeloffs as part of the background, overlapping them for effect. A mixture of scrapbook papers set the backing and the borders.

The text is a cardstock sticker.

Summer Sundress
Topic: New Work

I've been waiting for just the right place to use this oversized text sticker. Today is the day!

It had some flowers on the right but I added more from another clear sticker set and then created a floral spray in the lower right as well.

This version of the dress got a bow at the waistline.
