My custom stamp is back. I wish that I had noticed my software 'correcting' the capitalization of Lord before I printed it on the plate or before I created the stamp with it. Now it will be forever thus.

I stamped the scenic and colored it with watercolor pencils and an aquabrush before using a round die to cut it out. The card colors were pulled from the illustration which is why the match so well.

I used gold peel-off border stickers to frame the focal panel.

Despite the flowers, this card could be used for a masculine card because of the colors and dark tones. The center panel is printed cardstock with a grid and tone-on-tone floral corner.

The folded card base was chosen to echo the leaves and I used a clear sticker with silver text.

I already had set aside a card for H (houses) and skipped over I and J to stitch up this one for the alphabet challenge. Years ago someone shared this pattern with a group I was on. What a cheery little fellow.

I had pricked this out on printed cardstock and chose the light teal thread to match one of the flower colors. Another scrapbook paper creates the frame but the folded card base is the same teal as the thread.

Note to salf: don't stick the 3D image on the dotted paper and THEN try to round the corners. Check!

I started out with square corners but they just didn't feel right. I do like the way the flower escapes the bounds of its mounting. I gave it a cream card base to keep the look simple.

That's another clear text sticker, in case you hadn't figured it out.

In the continuing alphabet stitching challenge I created this card from a pattern I sold to CardMaker Kit-of-the-month. I chose a grided tone-on-tone cardstock.

I added a layer of scrapbook paper as a background. No text is needed since there is a greeting stitched in.

These sunflowers just called out for a cheery background so I used this orange with a Cuttlebug texture folder. The organza ribbon is tied through slits in the paper around the stems.

I used folds of the same ribbon to create 'photo corners' and added a clear text sticker at the bottom.

This is another of the scripture stamps I made. I got a little heavy-handed in the upper left corner of the stamp. I rounded the corner of the tag which was cut from the same cardstock as the frame for the focal paper - both of which echo the color of the flowers.

I like that the background is a maze of intersecting lines which draw the eye to the floral.

I finally used the Teresa Collins Stampmaker that I got for Christmas. I decided that I didn't have enough stamps with scripture on them so I made three large packets of them. It allowed me to make about 15 stamps. Unfortunately, I made the stencils go too close to the edges of the packet on a few of them so I think I ended up with 12 useable ones. This is one of them:

I did them with differing fonts and a variety of layouts to give myself some design options. I think this is a good use of the materials as I really don't need any specialty stamps of little pictures, etc.

I've used this flower before and, just like before, I have no idea what it is. But I like it!

I had a booklet of scriptures on vellum and decided to pull some of them out for use. This one got glue dots under the circle elements and was laid over the background paper (shimmery green print). Then the un-named flower was mounted to the background with bits of leaves and flowers allowed to drift into the text area.

I used a yellow folded card base to echo the color in the flowers.

Back to the formal side of things - accomplished by a simple layout, low contrast, and script text. I used white shimmer cardstock run through the d'vine swirls Cuttlebug folder as the background and allowed the light blue card base to show around the edges.

That clear sticker catches the light oddly so I will just point out that it is really silver text on a clear background.

Today's card is much simpler, relying on a speckled scrapbook paper for a calm background. I rounded two opposing corners to soften up the frame and added no embellishments.

The clear sticker had enough visual weight to balance out the flowers.

The background paper for this card lends a more playful element. By filling the whole background with stripes there is a good contrast to the curly edges in the flowers and leaves.

The color contrast is very striking, as well.

The text is, again, a clear sticker.

For this card I chose to let the 3D image hang over the borders of the focal paper a bit. I like how it makes it a little bit more casual feeling than it would be if everything were constrained.

This card also uses a clear sticker but in this case it is small gold print.

I spent a block of time punching out and assembling 3D elements from die-cut sheets one day. Then I spent another big block of time matching focal papers to each image. A third block of time was devoted to selecting base cards and then I spent a final session selecting text and embellishments. All that prep work so I could 'sit cown and whip out 20 cards' - yeah right!

Most of the cards used table scraps and this one features a crackle print scrapbook paper. I think this is the last little scrap of this and I am going to miss it.

I used a clear sticker for the text on this one.

I also picked up another book at the Goodwill store for $1.99. This one is on scrapbooking:

Well, it USED to be a book - now it is a pile of this:

It came with a lot of clip art - both black & white and color - in the back, some templates, lots of quote blocks and other artwork scattered throughout.

What it will be - card parts, mostly. Though the soccer ball and baseball templates made their way into a recent quilt!

My other great find at the store was a new roll of glittered wrapping paper for $.99 - It was a good day.

Another trip to the Goodwill where I found this book for $1.99.

It is a 'flip book' with separate top, center and bottom panels for the different 'levels' of rooms. So you can flip to the kitchen section and select a green ceiling, blue walls and a yellow floor (yikes).

I totally deconstructed the book and saved the color blocks. Some are textured as they were walls in tiles, stucco, wood, etc. The rest are solid colors but are sometimes rectangles, sometimes strips, etc. This is what I ended up with:

As to 'what it will be'... this is fodder for my stash of papers. I will use some as backgrounds, some to stamp on, to make tags, to make mats, to punch elements - it's just more stuff to play with.

I made 16 cards for the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps blog Fall Challenge. They are featuring one of them as a sample card to encouage others to make fall cards to send to the troops. These are used by soldiers to write home to their families.

I used stamping on all of them, colored with copic markers and then matched up with scrapbook papers, printed cardstocks, ribbons, brads and such. For some of them I used card sketches I had drawn some time ago, for others I just winged it.

I combined two separate illustrations from the stamp catalog for this little scene. The girl came with a flower in her hand and one on her hat. I colored these the same as the group of growing flowers which I split into two and mounted some in front of and some behind her. Now it looks like she's sitting in the garden.

The music background is from a roll of printed tissue and the green band is a table scrap. There is a loose floral behind these that is a piece of scrapbook paper and I mounted on an olive folded card base.

I found a printed tag in my stash that had a music background on it. I used some yellowish distress ink to bring it into the same color range as the background and then stamped the greeting on it. I added copper brads to pinched holes then mounted to the card with foam tape.

I decided, if I were going to continue in making quilts, I would just have to add a Topic category for them.

This is the 4th grandkid quilt and the 5th total, since I made the wall hanging for myself. This one is for a 6-year-old who is a big fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. I used the team colors plus 4 fabrics depicting the balls of his favorite team sports: Baseball, Football, Basketball, and Soccer. Then I made an almost lifesize ball for each of these sports in padded fabric, applique and embroidery then appliqued them to the quilt. The center N is not as padded but still has some loft to it.

Then the borders were all stitched with words pertaining to that particular sport:

The red corners are stitched with stars and the red borders have general sports and Husker words like 'team' 'coaches' 'red shirts' and nebraska cornhuskers'.

I think this, like the others will be a big hit.

Completed another quilt for a grandchild. I designed this using the Attic Windows setting and chose fields of running horses for the panes, dark and light for the window sills and a barn wood print for the sashing. The 10-year-old horse fanatic is going to LOVE this birthday gift.

I quilted this 'in the ditch' around all the sashing and then free-motioned horse heads in each of the window panes, alternating the direction the horses face.
