More Heart Beats
Topic: New Work

These hearts are making a repeat appearance. The original calendar page had 8 and I used 3 on a previous card. For this one I left them in their original configuration and layered their strip over scrapbook paper with a handmade paper look. I tore its bottom edge for a little interest.

The text is a vellum sticker that matched the blue background precicely. Gotta love that!

Create Tweet Memories
Topic: New Work

This calendar illustration was cut with Nestabilites die and mounted on crackle-print scrapbook paper. I used a tan card base to match the wings and added pink rhinestones as accents.

The stickers are combined with hand-lettered text.

Hit the Books
Topic: Books

I recently discovered a couple of new series and thought I'd share in case you hadn't found them yourself!

First is by Rebeca Seitz. She writes Christian fiction about scrapbooking. First up is 'Prints Charming' then comes 'Sisters Ink' and then 'Coming Unglued'. This summer she will release 'Scrapping Plans'. I've dome across the title 'Perfect Piece' but not sure when it will be released or where it fits in the series.

Another author I found is Joanna Campbell Slan who writes scrapbooking mysteries. Her first title is 'Paper, scissors, death' and whe is set to release 'Cut, crop, die this summer.

It's fun reading about characters who share your interests and hobbies.

Jumping for Joy
Topic: New Work

This is the last of my ceramics projects. Yep, you can tell who got this one, too!

The light blue wash really does not show very well in the photo.

Here you can see a close view of the second dolphin.

Turtle Soup
Topic: New Work

I made this at the ceramics studio on the cruise after making the mugs. Bet you can tell who this is for???

It's really made to be a cereal bowl but turtle 'soup' sounded funnier!

Chocolate Revealed
Topic: New Work

OK, here's the reveal. I showed this card earlier and said it was used for inspiration on another piece.

Here is the project... On a cruise I was on they had a ceramics studio. We painted whatever we wished on the project and they took it away for firing, returning it on the last day of the cruise.

I made this for a very special little girl. The inside of the mug is painted to look like it has CHOCOLATE milk in it!

3 in 3D
Topic: New Work

And this is the third of the 3D cards used for later inspiration. Today the hint is VANILLA.

This card used two scrapbook papers layered on one another. Then I added a ribbon cown the middle of the top paper and put the floral on that. the same ribbon was used for a bow.

I combined a Peel-off and a sticker for the text.

Roses from Another Dimension
Topic: New Work

This is the second floral 3D card which I used for later inspiration. Today's hint is STRAWBERRY.

Two pieces of scrapbook paper were used and a rub-on border used to separate them. I added three rhinestones as 'dew drops' and a silver peel-off greeting.

Sunflower in Dimension
Topic: New Work

This 3D sunflower card was used as inspiration for another project that I will show in a few days. I need to let the projects arrive at their desination before revealing. The only hint I will give is...CHOCOLATE.

I layered scrapbook paper over purple cardstock then on a yellow card base.

I added a silver peel-off greeting.

Kissy Bear
Topic: New Work

I took 3D pictures with me to cut out on vacation. This one includes the blue background. I added a torn purple background and then cut a striped scrapbook paper at an angle to add interest.

The text is a sticker.

Thanks Deer
Topic: New Work

This is the first project photo taken with my new portable studio. Sweet!

I used my Nestabilities scalloped rectangle to cut out the deer from an old calendar. I chose papers to go with the colors in the picture. The brown cardstock used a Cuttlebug folder over which I applied gold rub-n-buff with my finger. I rounded the corners with a punch. The striped paper was run through the Cuttlebug with a striped folder. I stacked all on green cardstock and added gold peel-off corners.

I trimmed out the corners of the green striped paper where they passed under the gold corners. The text sticker and the corners of the image have green self-stick rhinestones applied.

Pansies on Parade
Topic: New Work

Parade???? OK, it just sounded nice. There is no parade!

Unlike yesterday's 3D image, this one was too big to fit inside the scallop cutout. So I glued the background and foreground papers first and added the 3D image on top. I added a sticker at the bottom and mounted on purple cardstock base.

Once again, there was not enough contrast for the scallops so I did a bit of doodling inside each one. This time I used a very light lilac colored marker so it is more subtle.

Still Using the Nestabilities
Topic: New Work

When I was 'Queen of the Month' on a crafting list I got TWO big packs of 3D images to play with. I set them aside and just found them again, so here is the first. The sets came with tiny foam squares to put between the layers and I have done so, though I like a more compact image that I get when using silicone glue.

I used the Nestabilities scallop die to cut the oval from the cute pink patterned paper and layered it over the image which was mounted on the spotted gold.

I added a sticker at the bottom and adhered it all to a green cardstock base. Then I felt there was not enough contrast to show the scallops well so I used a green watercolor marker to outline them and added a little dot to each one.

Tiger Lily Peace
Topic: New Work

Here is another card made with the Nestabilities. I used the scallop to cut out this magazine illustration and glued it to scrapbook paper with a plaid print. The corners were rounded with a punch. The next layer is red-orange cardstock followed with dark salmon folded cardstock base. Both of these have punch-rounded corners as well.

The text is a sticker and I used a fine-tip sharpie marker to make an accent dot in each scallop.

Triple Heart Valentine
Topic: New Work

A gift I bought with Christmas money was four sets of Nestabilities. I recently pulled out a bunch of images and tried them out using my Cuttlebug.

The first was from a calendar of scrapbook papers. It had 8 of these heart images and I used a die to cut out three of them to look like postage stamps. These are glued to a single block of cream cardstock and then a rose background. A piece of printed cream paper is the final layer.

I Added a text sticker and made a drop-shadow with watercolor marker. Three little red heart brads form a border over the text and then the whole piece is mounted on a cream card base.

The final step was to use glossy accents on each of the hearts for a bit of flash. Below is a close-up of the glossy hearts.

I Always Thought I Wasn't a Stamper!
Topic: Supplies

Over the years I have purchased rubber stamps (and acrylic), some mounted and some unmounted. A couple of years ago I divided up the mounted ones and stored them in pizza boxes. Then I realized a few weeks ago that the unmounted ones are stored in sets that don't necessiarily fit into the same categories, so I started to catalog them.

I started pages for various categories: flowers, scenics, trees, borders, backgrounds, text... and stamped each image on the appropriate page. Beside each group I marked the location of the stamp and whether mounted or unmounted. It took 52 pages!

Now I want to create an index so I can look up by keyword and find a specific stamp or theme without going through everything I own.

Improving the Photo
Topic: In the studio

At my specific request I got this portable photo studio for Christmas. It comes with everything you see here (except the football!) and folds into itself to form a carrying case with pockets for the two lights and the tripod.

It does take a fair bit of room so I am challenged to find a place to leave it set up. I got it to take better pictures of my art work so expect to see changes!

What's For DInner?
Topic: Around the House

When I'm not crafting, working, blogging, or cleaning (that .000001% of the time) I'm slowly working on typing recipes into my own personal cookbook. I've been working on it for a few years because I don't devote much time to it!

I went through all my cookbooks and saved only those recipes that I actually use. Then I got rid of the cookbooks. I did the same with the little recipe books that came with all my appliances. I only saved my Joy of Cooking and Betty Crocker cookbooks and a specialty cookbook on grilling.

The next step was to gather all the loose recipes I had clipped out from magazines, cans and jars. Then I checked out all kinds of cookbooks from the library and copied off recipes from them.

Can you guess what's for dinner????

My cookbook is divided into chapters: Pork, Beef and Ground Beef, Chicken, Turkey, Fish and Shellfish, Other Meats, Beans Cheese and Eggs, Other Main Dishes, Potatoes, Pasta and Rice, Other Sides, Vegetables and Fruits, Appetizers and Snacks, Salads, Breads, Sandwiches, Sauces Seasonings Mixes and Relishes, Beverages, Breakfast, Cakes and Icings, Cookies and Bars, Candies, Pies and Pastries, Desserts!
