Holly Quilt
Topic: Scrap Recovery

This is another cutout from an old quilting magazine. I trimmed right around its scalloped edges and placed it on a complimentary background from my 6 x 6 Christmas print pad. The text tag is a commercial one that comes with foam dot mounting. It also already had red glitter on the berries.

Though they do not show up in all their glory, I added three rhinestone 'berries' to each of the leaf clusters on the quilt. A green folded card base matches the holly leaves.

Cheer, Cheer, the Gingerbread's Here
Topic: Scrap Recovery

These gingerbread people are cut from the catalog I bought and I colored them with Copic markers. I chose a homey plaid for the background and added a few strips of table scraps to 'ground' them.

I popped the seated figure on foam dots and added a clear sticker for the text.

Hark!
Topic: Stamping

Look closely at the text on this illustration!

I set Harold up to carol for the whole town with this cute background paper. I added a thin border of woodgrain to the top edge of it and then stamped snowflakes all over the pink folded card base. Each of the snowflakes got a rhinestone center for a little sparkle and Harold got some Stickles on his halo and his star.

Harold is bordered in black and popped up on foam dots.

Contrast
Topic: Stamping

Though I did use another bargain book picture I treated it in an entirely different way.

I wanted to set up a contrast between a 'natural' winter tree as it might be decorated in the forest and the type found in livingrooms across the world. I stamped the green printed cardstock with the black tree and added stamped borders at the top and bottom.

The colored picture is mounted with a thin brown border and popped up on foam dots. Then each of the ornaments is enhanced with gold Stickles.

Fine Seasoning

I bet you know where this illustration came from...

You probably recognize the backgrounds as some table scraps from recent projects, too. Oh... and the stamp looks familiar, you say? Yeah, nothing original about this at all. I did use a new piece of folded cardstock for the base, though.

Oh, yeah, I added Stickles. Another 'no surprise there', huh? They are the little gold dots in the center of each of the red flowers.

E is For Elf

Back to the bargain book...

I bordered the illustration with black and made a merry mix of scrap papers vor the background. LOVE those dots, so I amped it up by applying various Stickles to the blue ones, the gold ones and the white ones.

The text banner is a clear sticker.

Merry Chris-Mouse
Topic: Stamping

I got this adorable mouse image in a stamped image swap and colored it with Copic markers. Love the blending! I cut him out with a craft knife so I could mount him with foam tape over this pine background. The background has wonderful glittering on the berries and the branch tips.

I added some 'ornament' paper to the background along with some woodgrain paper borders and another piece as a stamped banner. I rounded the corners of the text block and popped it up on foam dots.

Quilted Nativity

I cut this picture of a nativity out of an old quilting magazine. Hey, I take 'em anywhere I can get 'em.

I pulled blue from Mary's gown to choose the background paper. It had these wonderful swirling snowflakes on it so I added  stars to each of them to turn it into a night scene.

The illustration was mounted on black and cut to a thin border. I popped it up on foam dots. Then I added a star on the illustration and a thick clear acrylic text sticker with a background to match the folded base.

Angel Dust

These two circles were illustrations off of separate cards last year. The blues batched and I thought it was fun to combine them.

I started with a wood-grain paper background and placed the two circles. The angel is pupped up on foam dots. The andel already had gold sprinkles so I just added gold Stickles to all the stars with the church.

The greeting is a clear acrylic thick sticker. I mounted it on green patterned paper and popped it up on foam as well.

More bargain book illustrations...

I mounted this one on black for a very skinny border so it would show up better. Then I mounted it 3D over patterned paper and some table scraps that picked up on the colors.

The text is a clear sticker.

Magic in the Name

Another page lifted from the bargain book. This only required some simple layering so I made sure they were very interesting papers. I also added a bow at the bottom and a star brad on the top.

Since the illustration has test in it I did not add any more to the card.

Jolly Season

I went to a used book store and picked up a mini-book of Christmas illustrations by Mary Engelbreit. Cost? 25 cents! Purpose? Tear it apart and use the artwork on cards. Which brings us to today's card.

I used a yellow card base and covered the front with the patterned paper. Then I cut a hole in the front and mounted the artwork inside.

I stamped the greeting on a piece of matching yellow and rounded two of the corners. Then I added three green rhinestones.

Purple Wreath
Topic: Scrap Recovery

Totally odd colors for Christmas, huh? But I scrapped out the wreath from an actual card so I guess somebody 'professional' thought it was OK. Ah, validation!

I used nested scallop dies to turn the printed wreath into a cut wreath and added an organza bow over the printed one.

I used a printed green background over a purple folded cardstock base and added a text rub-on. The wreath is mounted 3D.

A little odd, maybe, but I think it looks elegant anyway.

Blue Nativity
Topic: Scrap Recovery

Recovered from one of last year's cards, this nativity has beautiful, rich colors. I used a nestability labels die to cut it and emboss the edges. I used a different diw to cut and emboss a backing piece and mounted them 3D.


More of that awesome gold on gold text paper layered onto blue cardstock forms the backdrop for them.

Christmas Candles

This is the image from the other half of the sheet I used yesterday. Same color palette so I used a reddish woodgrain from the same 6 x 6 paper pack.

I even used the same base card and the same rub-on greeting.

Scroll For Christmas
Topic: 3D paperwork

The new punch-out 3D sheets I got have wonderful images for Christmas. This one suited so well the plaid background that I had from a recent 6 x 6 pad I picked up.

It's difficult to tell, but the lamp with all the berries and the bow as well as all the curled portions around the edge of the scroll are 3D.

I used a rub-on for the greeting.

Round the Holly
Topic: Stamping

Well, there's a little stamping on it! Actually, the holly is from the stamp catalog I got at Goodwill and cut up. I colored it with Copic markers and glazed the berries with Diamond Glaze and covered the golden background with Stickles. I cut with a circle die and layered on a green cardstock cut with a label die.

These were mounted with foam tape over the checked scrapbook paper and this over white cardstock.

Now to the stamping... just the greeting, I'm afraid.

Snowy Scene
Topic: Collage

This is another of the 'victorian' die cut images. I backed this one with the golden brown and fronted it with a die cut cream cardstock.

A stamped greeting and three stamped snowflakes finish the theme.

Christmas Wreath
Topic: Scrap Recovery

An overall pattern of red and green boughs and pinecones made a nice wreath by cutting with two Nestability scallop dies. I added an organza ribbon tied in a bow and mounted it to the copper cardstock oval with foam dots.

I placed these onto the checkered scrapbook paper over green cardstock and finished off with a gold peel-off greeting.

Peace on Earth

I think these globes were originally 'ornaments' on another card. A die cut was used to punch them out and they just 'belonged' on more of the gold on gold paper.

The text is a clear sticker.
